experience is the best teacher

Once upon a time, there was a young man dreaming to be a good and productive citizen of the country called “Philippines”, but before he can do that, he will have first to overcome all the trials and hardships along his way. And in order to do so, he must possess some of the good characteristics and live behind those things that can ruin and destroy him. Those good characteristics that he must possess are: patience, compassion, passion, hardworking, caring, and loving, being optimistic and etc. But, does this characteristic can make him a better person? Do these characteristics can change him into a better citizen of the country? And being a teacher someday, do these characteristics can build a bridge in the gap and destroy a barrier between him and his pupils in the future? These questions may give you an image of what the teaching profession gives to us.
As a student of one of the top performing state university not only in the country but also in South-East Asia, it is never been easy for me to think and do the things that are really necessary in order to continue studying. But as part of my experience and training in the field of teaching, I must keep my focus and desire that someday, I will be a successful teacher. And I’m very proud and honor to thank those persons who are not only serving as my second parents, but also teaching me not to lose hope in reaching my biggest and probably the most important dream in my life; to be a teacher.
Being taught of so many things inside the four walls of the classroom, it is nice and overwhelming to experience true to life situations that my teacher can never be taught to me. There is a phrase that best describes my whole experience, and that is; “Experience is the best Teacher.” As I collaborate, mingle and share my knowledge to those students in the place they called; “School,” I realized and over see the real problems, sufferings and outlook of those pupils who are experiencing poverty but continuously studying. Unfortunately, one of my pupils told me this: “sir, I want to be like you, so that I can help my family rise in the darkness of poverty and social discrimination.” As a student like him, I ask myself,” what are the reasons why I am continuously taking up teaching??? And silently I cried, I realized that I’m out of my track, instead of grabbing the opportunity, I let my dreams fly away that in one point, it is already on my hands. I said to myself; “I can do this, I can make it”. Another day comes, and it means and reminded me another day to make things right. My pupils gave me a reason and passion to love more the teaching profession. The week ends and it’s time to say goodbye to those pupils whom you taught, but in return, taught me also of so many things that I can never learn inside the classroom. In such a small period of time, I learned a lot more and I realized many things.
As the phrase says; “Experience is the best Teacher,” so I conclude that, being a student is not only learning and learning and learning inside the classroom, you must also go out and reach those things that can teach you to become a better and progressive citizen of this country.
