Home Visit Experience

Community Immersion will never be complete without having ourselves mingled with the people in the community of Brgy. Libot, Calinog. It was a very enriching and touching experience. I, together with Sharmaine and Art, visited the house of our student, Katy. We never expected to see something like what we had seen. It was a moment of realization for the three of us. We saw the true face of poverty as it dwelled in Katy’s household. Although crippled with poverty, Katy’s parents were able to meet both ends meet for their growing family and even send Katy to school for they consider education “important”, too. They may not be rich with material things but they were abundant in terms of love and respect among their family members. After all, that truly counts!

Gardening 101

Teachers are versatile. We proved this as we prepared ourselves in our gardening session. Armed with shovels, brooms and gardening tools, we worked diligently like the way we used to do. It was a very fulfilling experience knowing that you had helped someone. This “Gulayan sa Paaralan” project, with the partnership of the community, aimed to give Umuruli women an extra income. Our sweats and efforts were indeed worth it!
