“One looks back with appreciation to the brilliant teachers,
but with gratitude to those who touched our human feelings. The
curriculum is so much necessary raw material, but warmth is the vital element
for the growing plant and for the soul of the child.”
This picture was taken during our last day of our community immersion.
This was the Grade V pupils of Jaycon Elementary School
together with their very competent, effective, efficient, and pretty adviser,
Mrs. Grace Perez.
During our first day, the pupils were not so close to us. They just stared at us as we pass through the alley. We were the ones who greet them first and as a response to us, they just smiled and said hello. Soo cute! Hahah.. But when ma’am Grace introduced us to them, there they started to approach us and they kept on asking questions to us. As we all know, kids are very inquisitive right?
As the days gone by, some of them spent most of their time with us in school. They go home late in the evening because they kept on chitchatting with us. There started the very close relationship between us and the pupils.
I am very happy to be a part of their journey! I will never ever forget them. Promise!!!

This photo was taken when we had our second
visitation last February 5,2013 at Jaycon Elementary School. As a part of our
requirement in community immersion specifically in Project SERVE, each
community immersion class must have a project in a certain area. For us, the
BEED 3-A class, we planned to have this Gulayan sa paaralan wherein the people
coming from the mountain area will be our beneficiary. The fruits that they are
going to get from the seeds they planted can be a source of income
.
.
It
was 3 pm that time when our adviser Ma’am Violeta called our attention and told
us to proceed at the garden area. Good thing! Some of our pupils were there to
help us. We enjoyed what we were doing. We never get tired of working because
we love what we were doing.
Despite
the fact that I’m not wearing an appropriate dress for work, I was still able
to help in cultivating the plots that were assigned to us.
It’s not about the clothes that you wear. It’s about the contribution that you’ve done! =)
